Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat (NASDAQ: VSAT) company, will deploy NexusWave on Krey Schiffahrt’s four newbuild heavy lift vessels, providing a fully managed bonded connectivity service with unlimited data for both operational use and crew applications.
Krey Schiffahrt currently manages eight modern multi-purpose heavy lift vessels and is expanding its fleet to meet evolving project cargo demands. The new project cargo carriers are designed for operational flexibility, featuring optimised hull shapes and innovative propulsion systems that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 35% compared to equivalent tonnage.
The bonded multi-network service is designed to combine global coverage, managed performance levels and unlimited data. It will help keep performance monitoring and energy management systems connected wherever the vessels operate, while delivering secure, high-speed, always-on connectivity for onboard operations and crew welfare needs.
Captain Maxim Babenko, Nautical Superintendent, ISM, ISPS at Krey Schiffahrt, said reliable connectivity is essential for executing challenging projects efficiently, adding that the managed service and unlimited data will support continuous system connectivity and crew welfare. Jan-Henning Stehr, Sales Manager – Europe at Inmarsat Maritime, said the solution is intended to provide consistent high-speed connectivity that supports fuel efficiency, continuous monitoring and crew wellbeing worldwide.
