Saudi offshore drilling contractor ADES has secured a one-year contract extension worth approximately $52 million (SAR 195 million) for the Shelf Drilling Tenacious jackup rig operating offshore Angola.
An existing international oil company has exercised the extension option, with the additional 12-month period scheduled to begin immediately after the current firm contract expires in the first quarter of 2027. ADES has not disclosed the client’s identity.
The latest extension follows an earlier agreement announced by Shelf Drilling in August 2025. That $50 million contract extension secured the rig’s employment until February 2027 and included an option for another year.
The rig had previously received a 15-month extension valued at approximately $66 million in June 2024.
Built in 2007, Shelf Drilling Tenacious has operated offshore Angola for Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (CABGOC) since January 2022. The Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 jackup is capable of operating in water depths of up to 375 ft and drilling to depths of 30,000 ft.
The contract extension comes after ADES completed its acquisition of Shelf Drilling in November 2025, bringing the Dubai-based drilling contractor’s rigs under its control.
ADES has also secured other offshore drilling work in West Africa, including a $92.7 million contract in Nigeria for the Shelf Drilling Victory jackup.
