The self-propelled platform will carry six laboratories and accommodate 238 people. Shanghai Jiao Tong University plans extended offshore research deployments, with delivery scheduled for June 2030.
Prysmian’s 192.8-metre Alessandro Volta has three cable carousels with a combined capacity of 19,000 tonnes and is designed to lay power cables in waters up to 1,500 metres deep.
