DeepOcean has won a Jubilee riser retermination contract from Tullow Ghana Ltd, with the subsea construction vessel Orient Adventurer assigned to the campaign. Offshore execution is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The work concerns a gas lift riser linking the field’s subsea production system to the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah. Jubilee lies about 60 kilometres off Ghana, in roughly 1,100 metres of water. The FPSO can process over 120,000 barrels of oil daily.
DeepOcean’s EMEA organisation will manage and engineer the project. Its offshore scope covers disconnecting the riser, carrying out retermination on deck, reconnecting it and performing pre-commissioning.
Contract delivery will be handled by DeepOcean Ghana Limited, the venture formed by DeepOcean and a local partner. Support will come from Sète in France and Accra in Ghana, with further engineering input from Aberdeen in the UK. The client, Tullow Ghana Ltd, is a subsidiary of UK-based Tullow Oil.
Previously named Polar Onyx, Orient Adventurer has recently been extensively upgraded and refurbished. The vessel carries a 2,500-ton under-deck carousel. Its Huisman vertical lay system (VLS) has been refurbished and provides 275 tons of dynamic top-tension capacity.
Robin Mawhinney, executive vice president for EMEA at DeepOcean, said the company had used the vessel on earlier construction assignments off Ghana. He highlighted the VLS as suitable for deploying risers via the moonpool.
Chief executive Øyvind Mikaelsen attributed the award in part to the company’s local operations in Takoradi and Accra and its experience with subsea riser work.
