COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, Shell and Jiangnan Shipyard have entered into a construction agreement for four 175,000 cu meters LNG carriers.
The LNG carriers will be built by Jiangnan Shipyard and, after delivery, will serve Shell under long-term charter agreements.
The companies said the tripartite collaboration supports the stable, efficient and sustainable operation of the global clean energy supply chain. For COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation, the agreement also reinforces long-term cooperation with major global energy partners and supports its expansion in the international LNG shipping market.
The vessels will feature a next-generation large twin-skeg hull design with optimized hydrodynamic performance. Each LNG carrier will be equipped with WinGD XDF 2.2 dual-fuel main engines integrated with iCER and VCR technologies, low methane-slip generators, optimized shaft generators and advanced reliquefaction systems.
The onboard configuration is set to reduce overall fuel consumption while lowering carbon emissions and methane leakage.
COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation said it will continue to deepen cooperation with global energy companies and expand its business coverage across the LNG transportation industrial chain as global LNG trade grows.
