Heavy-load carrier BigLift Barentsz has arrived at Stord Port, Norway, on 20 September, transporting the Hugin A Wellbay Module for integration at Aker Solutions’ Stord yard. The module was fabricated at Drydocks World Dubai and departed the UAE last month. Upon arrival, the cargo is slated for handover and integration into the Hugin A topsides, part of Aker BP’s multi-field Yggdrasil development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Aker Solutions has previously confirmed that the wellbay module is a key building block within the ~30,000-tonne Hugin A topsides, which are being assembled and finalized at Stord. The module’s delivery marks another visible step in the staged fabrication and logistics program spread across multiple Norwegian yards and partner facilities.

BigLift Barentsz—an MC-Class heavy-lift / heavy-load carrier under the Netherlands flag—was selected to move the large offshore module from Dubai to Norway. Public vessel data lists the ship at 173 m LOA and 42 m beam, designed for transporting oversized industrial cargoes such as rigs, modules and cranes.

The Hugin A platform is the area center in the Yggdrasil project, supporting nearby fields and associated installations. With the wellbay module now at Stord, the focus shifts to mechanical completion, hook-up, and final integration activities ahead of the platform’s offshore deployment timeline.
