The Hugin B topside departed Aker Solutions‘ Verdal yard on 06 July, completing a series of offshore structures delivered to Aker BP for the Yggdrasil and Valhall PWP-Fenris developments over the past three and a half years.

The Verdal yard delivered four steel jackets and two topsides during the program. Earlier deliveries included the Fenris jacket and pre-drilling module in June 2024, followed by the Valhall PWP jacket, the Hugin A jacket, the Hugin B jacket, and the Fenris topside before the final shipment of the Hugin B topside.

According to Aker BP, the overall portfolio generated nearly 3,500 man-years of work at the Verdal yard. More than 130 apprentices have participated in the projects since 2022.

The company said the projects were approved at the end of 2022 with objectives that included maintaining industrial activity, developing competence and preparing the supplier industry for future value chains. The Verdal yard was cited as one example of those efforts.

Aker Solutions said collaboration with Aker BP helped reduce construction time and support more efficient operations during project execution. The company also said the scale of the program enabled investments worth billions of Norwegian kroner in competence development, robotics and digital tools.

The Valhall PWP and Fenris facilities were delivered through the Fixed Facilities Alliance between Aker BP, ABB and Aker Solutions, while the Yggdrasil platforms were delivered through an alliance involving Aker BP, Aker Solutions and Siemens Energy.

In total, the Verdal yard delivered more than 42,000 tonnes of offshore structures for the projects.

According to Aker BP, the projects were completed in a market marked by supply chain pressure and volatility while maintaining scheduled delivery, quality and safety requirements. The company said the alliance model played an important role in coordinating complex offshore installation schedules and supporting project execution.
