HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured orders for 142 vessels worth $16.4 billion this year, reaching 70.3% of its annual target following a new contract for three very large ammonia carriers.
The company announced on 13 July that it had signed the 545.6 billion won shipbuilding contract with a Europe-based shipping company. HD Hyundai Samho will construct the three vessels and deliver them sequentially by the first half of 2030.
The latest agreement moves HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering closer to its annual order target of $23.3 billion.
Its cumulative orders include 43 liquefied petroleum gas, ammonia and liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, the largest category by vessel count. The company has also secured 39 petrochemical product carriers, 28 container ships and 17 liquefied natural gas carriers.
The remaining orders comprise 11 crude oil tankers, two pure car and truck carriers and two other vessels.
