DEME Group’s jack-up offshore transport and installation vessel Norse Wind has installed the first 15 MW turbine at RWE’s Nordseecluster A offshore wind project in the German North Sea.

Operating from Port Esbjerg in Denmark, Norse Wind is transporting and installing turbine components for the project. The vessel can carry out installation work for up to five turbine sets per cycle.

Nordseecluster A will comprise 44 Vestas turbines with a total capacity of 660 MW. All turbines are expected to be installed and operational by the end of 2026. Each turbine will have a capacity of up to 15 MW, a hub height of 145 m, and rotor blades measuring 115 m.

Nordseecluster A is the first phase of the 1.6 GW Nordseecluster offshore wind project, jointly developed by RWE and Norges Bank Investment Management.

Designed for large offshore wind components, Norse Wind is equipped with a 3,200 t crane and can transport and install the latest generation of 15–20 MW turbines.
