Nexans has brought CLV Nexans Electra into operation in Oslo, below the walls of Akershus Fortress, adding a new cable-laying vessel to its fleet.

The 149.9 m vessel is built for large and demanding subsea projects, including offshore wind export systems and long-distance interconnectors. It is equipped with three turntables and can lay four cables at the same time.

CLV Nexans Electra also features a hybrid power system compatible with biodiesel blends, supporting more efficient operations at sea.

The inauguration gathered customers, partners, suppliers, public authorities and teams from Norway and beyond. Dr. Miriam Dalli, Minister for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, attended the event.

Nexans has delivered more than 443 interconnection projects worldwide, representing 46 GW of installed capacity. With CLV Nexans Electra now joining the fleet, the company is expanding its capacity to connect countries, carry renewable energy and support a more resilient, low-carbon power system.
