Golar LNG has closed a $600 million senior secured revolving credit facility backed by its investment in the MKII FLNG, which is being converted in China.
The company said the financing would provide additional flexibility for further floating LNG development. The facility received support from a group of banks including ABN AMRO, Citibank, Danske Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank.
The MKII FLNG is being converted from the LNG carrier Fuji and is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2027. It will have a liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per year.
The unit is intended for a 20-year contract connected with the Argentina LNG project. MKII FLNG and Hilli FLNG are both planned for the development and will be chartered to Southern Energy S.A.
Southern Energy S.A. was formed to support LNG exports from Argentina. Its ownership comprises Pan American Energy with 30%, YPF with 25%, Pampa Energia with 20%, Harbour Energy with 15%, and Golar with 10%.
Hilli FLNG has been in commercial operation since 2018. It is expected to begin commercial operations for the Argentina LNG project in September 2027, with MKII FLNG scheduled to follow in late 2028.
The two units will have a combined liquefaction capacity of about 6 million tonnes per year.
