BigLift Shipping’s new heavy transport vessel CY Frontier has begun its maiden voyage, carrying 12 inland barge hulls from Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province, China, to Rotterdam.

The vessel is the first of four BC-Class Heavy Transport Vessels scheduled to join the BigLift Shipping fleet. It has an overall length of 180 m and a beam of 43 m.

Before continuing to Europe, CY Frontier is scheduled to call at Mokpo, South Korea. The vessel will load two grillages, each weighing 450 tonnes, for transport to Cádiz, Spain.

The 12 barge hulls were loaded in Zhangjiagang for RensenDriessen and are scheduled for delivery to Rotterdam in September.

The voyage is the first cargo assignment for CY Frontier as the vessel enters the BigLift Shipping heavy transport fleet.
