Sihang Yongsheng, China’s largest fully slewing semi-submersible crane vessel by lifting capacity, was delivered in Jiangmen, Guangdong, on 8 July.

The non-self-propelled semi-submersible barge is designed for heavy lifting and marine transportation. It measures 110 m in length, 43.8 m in width and 8 m in depth, with a continuous cargo deck covering 4,800 sq m.

A fully slewing luffing crane is installed at the stern. The crane has a 149 m boom and a maximum lifting height of 172.5 m. In fixed stern lifting mode, it can handle a single load of up to 2,200 t.

The crane can rotate through 360 degrees while the vessel is anchored. This allows Sihang Yongsheng to lift large offshore steel structures, offshore wind jacket foundations and heavy bridge sections in different marine construction environments.

The vessel also has a cargo carrying capacity of 10,000 t. Its continuous deck can accommodate large components and other cargoes.

When required, the hull can submerge to receive cargo. After the cargo has been positioned and secured, the vessel can refloat and transport it, enabling Sihang Yongsheng to switch between heavy lifting and cargo transportation.

An automated intelligent ballast system calculates operating parameters and adjusts the vessel’s balance without manual intervention. The vessel fills several technical gaps in China’s large-tonnage multifunctional offshore construction vessel sector.
