Deltamarin and Toepfer Transport have unveiled a new Semi-Liner Multipurpose (MPP) vessel design at SMM 2026 in Hamburg.

The vessel concept has a deadweight of approximately 17,000 tonnes and is intended for different cargo requirements and trades. Its design criteria include a forward-positioned bridge, flush cargo deck, long hatch and high cubic capacity. Ice Class 1A is available as an option, and the vessel is also suitable for Great Lakes operations.

The standard lifting configuration comprises three 80-tonne cranes. The design can alternatively be specified with up to three 250-tonne cranes, depending on operational and cargo requirements.

According to the design criteria, the combination of deck layout, cargo space and lifting equipment is intended to support cargo handling and short port turnaround times.

Two configurations have been developed as starting points for further work. They can be adapted to the requirements of individual owners, trades and operating profiles.

The Semi-Liner MPP design combines Deltamarin’s ship design and engineering work with Toepfer Transport’s market intelligence covering the multipurpose and general cargo sectors.

Following its unveiling at SMM 2026, the concept is available for further development and adaptation to specific shipowner and operator requirements.
