Shandong Luhai Equipment Group has signed a new contract with a European buyer for 4+2 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels, expanding its presence in the European market.

The order marks the fifth European market entered by Shandong Luhai Equipment Group, following previous contracts linked to the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries. The company said its European partnership network now extends from Western Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean.

The 12,600 DWT vessel design has an overall length of 149.9 m, a beam of 22.8 m and a draft of 12.0 m. The vessels will be classed by DNV and are scheduled for phased delivery between 2028 and 2029.

The ship type is one of the key vessel designs that Shandong Luhai Equipment Group is prioritizing for development.

In September 2025, Shandong Luhai Equipment Group signed an initial contract with a British shipowner for four 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels. In April 2026, the same shipowner added two more vessels of the same type.

With the latest contract, Shandong Luhai Equipment Group has secured 10 orders for its 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessel series.

Together with previously contracted 7,400 DWT and 17,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels, the orders form a broader product portfolio and establish a batch-production schedule running through the end of 2029.

The company said series production will allow design experience to be reused more quickly, manufacturing processes to be standardised and supply chain resources to be allocated more efficiently.

Shandong Luhai Equipment Group said this approach is expected to create economies of scale across design, procurement, production and management, helping reduce costs and improve efficiency.

The company added that its multi-purpose vessel portfolio now covers small and medium-sized flexible vessels as well as larger heavy-lift vessels, allowing it to offer tailored solutions for different regional markets and cargo requirements.
