The Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) has granted Vår Energi drilling permits for two wildcat wells offshore Norway.

One permit covers wellbore 6407/5-3 S in production license 1002 in the Norwegian Sea. Vår Energi operates the license with a 42.3% share, while Equinor holds 57.7%.

The other permit applies to wellbore 36/7-6 S in production license 636 in the North Sea. Vår Energi is the operator with a 30% stake. Inpex Idemitsu Norge and Orlen Upstream Norway each hold 30%, and DNO Norge holds the remaining 10%.

Both drilling operations will use COSL’s COSLProspector, a 4,921-ft semi-submersible rig. The rig can operate in water depths of up to 1,500 m and drill to 7,500 m. It is designed for harsh-environment operations in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and other regions worldwide.
