Wood Thilsted and COP Frontier have launched Neretek, a UK-based offshore wind technology company developing foundation solutions for projects in 60–90 m water depths.

The company was launched in London on 07 July 2026 with its BC90 foundation technology. The design is aimed at fixed-bottom offshore wind projects in deeper waters, including the UK’s emerging Other Deepwater Offshore Wind (ODOW) category.

The launch followed the UK Government’s Allocation Round 8 announcement on 06 July, which included plans to expand offshore wind development in 60–90 m water depths. Neretek said BC90 is intended to address that segment by offering a fixed-foundation option between conventional fixed-bottom designs and floating offshore wind.

Jonathan Cole has been appointed Executive Chair of Neretek. The company said BC90 was developed after about ten years of research by offshore structural designers.

According to Neretek, BC90 can use existing technologies, local supply chain capability and current port infrastructure. The company said the foundation does not depend on large specialist vessels and is designed to lower CAPEX compared with deepwater monopiles or jackets in 60–90 m water depths.

The technology was developed in the UK and is also intended for deeper-water offshore wind markets in Europe and Southeast Asia.

Jonathan Cole said BC90 could help maintain offshore wind deployment while floating wind technologies continue to move toward commercialization.

Alastair Muir Wood, Founder and CEO of Wood Thilsted, said the technology was developed with COP Frontier to provide a fixed-structure option for projects in 60–90 m water depths using existing supply chains and materials.

Alan Hannah, Chief Operating Officer of COP Frontier, said BC90 addresses cost and development challenges in offshore wind and could support further deployment in the UK and other markets.

UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks said offshore wind is part of the country’s clean power strategy and that companies working on deeper-water solutions will be needed to support future development.
