An indirect subsidiary of Marco Polo Marine has been awarded a 15-year charter contract by Taiwan’s Marine Port Bureau under the Offshore Wind Farm Emergency Towage and Salvage Services Procurement Project.

The contract was awarded to PKR Offshore for the charter of one emergency tugboat or salvage vessel. The vessel will support Taiwan’s maritime emergency response framework across the contract period.

Under the agreement, PKR Offshore will provide dedicated emergency towing and salvage services in Taiwan’s territorial waters and nearby offshore wind farm areas. The vessel will be required to operate in harsh weather conditions and maintain a high level of readiness to respond to incidents involving disabled, grounded or drifting vessels.

The award broadens Marco Polo Marine’s fleet portfolio beyond its existing crew transfer vessel and construction service operation vessel activities into the emergency response and salvage segment.

The contract value stands at NT$2.95 billion, or $92.5 million. The company said the value is expected to be recognised evenly over the 15-year charter period.

Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The contract is also the group’s first long-term government charter in Taiwan.
