Keyfield International has acquired a 2014-built anchor handling tug supply vessel for $7.4 million in cash, adding new capacity to its offshore support fleet.
The vessel will be renamed Keyfield Joyful. It has worked in Indonesia, Australia, Singapore and Bangladesh, and is planned for deployment in the second half of 2026 as the company targets firm charter demand.
Keyfield International plans to spend between $0.7 million and $1.0 million on upgrades. The work will include conversion to DP2, higher bollard pull and increased accommodation capacity.
Chief Executive Officer Darren Kee said the acquisition gives Keyfield International additional AHTS capacity and supports new tender and spot charter opportunities without disrupting existing commitments. The company has recently sent three AHTS vessels to the Middle East.
The purchase also responds to an expected shortage of AHTS vessels below 80 tonnes bollard pull in Malaysia’s offshore support vessel market.
Together with three vessels under construction for delivery in 2027 and 2028, Keyfield International expects its owned fleet to grow from 14 vessels to 18 vessels by 2028.
