Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K LINE) has taken delivery of the LNG carrier Puteri Kedah at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in China. The vessel was delivered on 30 June 2026 and was built for PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL).

Puteri Kedah is the sister ship of Puteri Johor, which was delivered on 29 May 2026. Both LNG carriers are owned by joint venture companies of K LINE.

The two vessels were named Puteri Johor and Puteri Kedah during a ceremony held at the shipyard on 30 April 2026. The event was attended by representatives from PLL, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., China Merchants Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and K LINE.

“Puteri” means princess in Malay. Johor is the southernmost state of Malaysia, while Kedah is located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia.

K LINE said the addition of the two vessels is expected to strengthen PLL’s LNG fleet and support reliable LNG transportation for its customers.

K LINE identified LNG as a priority investment area in its Medium-Term Management Plan published in May 2022. The company said it will continue responding to customer requirements by expanding long-term contracts and supporting growing energy demand.
