TechnipFMC and BP have agreed to cooperate on 20K subsea trees for Paleogene developments in the US Gulf under a memorandum of understanding announced on 20 October 2026.
Signed with BP Exploration & Production Inc., the MoU covers cooperation relating to future tree systems rated at 20,000 psi. The announcement did not specify an order value, equipment quantities or delivery dates.
The companies intend to examine opportunities at an early stage and collaborate on technology development. TechnipFMC said the work aims to make project schedules more predictable and improve delivery outcomes.
Chair and CEO Doug Pferdehirt linked the agreement to the company’s plans for deploying standardized 20K equipment more widely. He said established technology and consistent delivery methods could help future projects achieve more predictable performance.
BP’s Paleogene programme includes Kaskida and Tiber-Guadalupe. According to Offshore Energy, BP reached final investment decisions on Kaskida in July 2024 and Tiber-Guadalupe in September 2025.
Kaskida’s planned start-up is in 2029, with capacity for 80,000 barrels of oil per day. Tiber is expected to follow in 2030 with the same production capacity, using more than 85% of Kaskida’s design.
