EEW Group will expand its EEW KHPC manufacturing facility in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do Province, South Korea, to meet demand for offshore wind foundations in Southeast Asia.

The expansion will enable the plant to manufacture monopiles, pin piles, jacket components and jacket legs with diameters of up to 13 m, unit weights of up to 2,500 tonnes and lengths of up to 120 m from the second half of 2027.

Following the expansion, the facility will be able to process up to 200,000 tonnes of steel into LSAW pipes in the future. Production capacity at EEW KHPC is expected to increase from around 60,000 tonnes per year to more than 200,000 tonnes annually.

To support the project, EEW Group has acquired additional production halls and adjacent land next to the existing facility. The expansion will more than double the available production area. The company will also enlarge the port storage area to support higher production volumes through the site’s direct port access.

The project is expected to create around 200 skilled jobs in the region.

According to EEW Group, the expansion is intended to address increasing demand for offshore wind foundation components in Southeast Asia. The company also said the project will be carried out without affecting ongoing production at the facility.
