Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has secured fixed-price contracts for the 504MW Haesong 3 and 532MW Haewoori 2 offshore wind projects in South Korea, representing a combined capacity of 1,036MW.
The two projects were selected in South Korea’s first-half 2026 offshore wind auction. On 30 June 2026, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment said the Korea Energy Agency had finalised the results and individually notified the selected developers.
Haesong 3 is a 504MW fixed-bottom offshore wind project off Sinan in South Jeolla Province. It forms part of the Haesong Offshore Wind 1 and 3 developments and had previously secured an Electricity Business Licence and environmental impact assessment approval.
The 532MW Haewoori 2 project, located off Ulsan, was the only floating offshore wind development selected in the auction. It is one of three Haewoori Offshore Wind projects, each with a capacity of around 500MW.
According to the source, 14MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines produced in South Korea are understood to be planned for Haewoori 2.
Nine offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 3,656MW participated in the auction. Five projects totalling 1,786MW were selected, including 1,254MW of fixed-bottom capacity.
Supply-chain preparations are also under way for the Haesong developments. In May 2026, the project side selected LS Cable & System as preferred supplier for subsea cables and LS Marine Solution for subsea cable transportation and installation.
In April 2026, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Doosan Enerbility signed a three-party memorandum of understanding with the project side covering cooperation on offshore wind localisation. The following month, Doosan Enerbility provided a letter of intent related to domestic wind turbine assembly.
Engineering work has also been arranged for the Haewoori Offshore Wind 1, 2 and 3 developments. Aker Solutions and Principle Power have contracts covering basic engineering for the floating foundations.
Under the arrangement, Aker Solutions is responsible for floater design and procurement, together with integrated engineering related to the transportation and installation of cables, port facilities, turbines and other equipment. Principle Power is responsible for the design of the floating platforms and mooring systems.
CIP established its South Korean operation in August 2018 and is developing offshore wind projects around Sinan, Taean and Ulsan.
