VARD has opened a new office for its Vard Design and Engineering Vietnam (VDV) Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, with plans to expand the team to more than 40 engineers in the coming years.
The new centre brings together engineers working across several ship-design disciplines, including structure, piping and machinery, HVAC, naval architecture, hydrostatics, stability and marine electrical engineering.
VARD said the expansion will support cooperation across its international design network by allowing engineering teams to share knowledge, experience, standards and working practices.
The range of disciplines located at the Ho Chi Minh City centre gives the operation a multidisciplinary structure. Naval architecture and stability work will be carried out alongside structural, machinery, HVAC and electrical engineering functions within the same engineering organisation.
The company also expects the centre to create additional opportunities for engineers in Vietnam to work on advanced vessel design.
VARD plans to increase the VDV Centre workforce to more than 40 engineers as the new Ho Chi Minh City operation develops.
