Hornbeck Offshore Services has secured a multi-year North Sea decommissioning contract for an unnamed operator, with work scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
The contract was awarded to Helix Well Ops, a subsidiary of Hornbeck Offshore Services. It has a firm term of two years and includes customer options for extensions.
The work will involve riserless plug-and-abandonment operations using either the Well Enhancer or Seawell well intervention vessel.
Hornbeck Offshore Services will provide the vessel together with a well-access system, ROVs, saturation diving, project management and engineering services as part of the contract.
Todd M. Hornbeck, president and CEO of Hornbeck Offshore Services, said the award follows the company’s previous decommissioning work in the North Sea.
Earlier this month, Helix Energy Solutions completed its combination with Hornbeck Offshore Services after shareholders approved the all-stock transaction. The deal created a larger US offshore services group operating under the Hornbeck name.
