PTSC M&C has completed a 43-day load-out campaign for four offshore substation topsides and four modular support frames for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, moving the structures from Vietnam toward Europe.
The eight structures have a combined weight of approximately 16,000 t. They were fabricated and loaded out at PTSC M&C’s facilities in Vung Tau.
A load-out and handover ceremony was held on 12 September 2026. At that time, two of the offshore substations were already being transported to Europe, while the other two had been loaded onto transport barges at the PTSC port ahead of sail-away.
The shipment is the first delivery of offshore substations manufactured by PTSC M&C in Vietnam for the European market.
The structures are destined for Baltica 2, an offshore wind farm being developed by PGE and Ørsted in the Polish Baltic Sea. The project has a planned capacity of approximately 1.5 GW and will use 107 wind turbines and four offshore substations.
Each of the four offshore substations is rated at 375 MW. The substations were awarded to a consortium of Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C under an engineering, procurement and construction contract announced on 13 June 2023. The contract covers design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
The four substations were manufactured at PTSC M&C’s Vung Tau yard. Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C are supported by ISC Consulting Engineers and Hyundai Electric as primary subcontractors for the package.
Offshore construction of Baltica 2 has also progressed in Poland. PGE and Ørsted completed the installation of all 111 monopile foundations on 21 August 2026. Of these, 107 support the wind turbines and four are for the offshore substations.
The developers said in August that preparations were underway for installation of the offshore substations and export cables later in 2026.
