A hostile drone struck an offshore drilling platform operated by Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters on Sunday, causing material damage and injuring one worker.

According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence, the injured worker is receiving medical treatment. The ministry said the relevant authorities responded immediately in coordination with other government agencies.

The same day, three land border centres in northern Kuwait were also attacked, sustaining material damage. No casualties were reported at those locations.

Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence, described the border incidents as a criminal aggressive attack. The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said it remains fully prepared and has taken the necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security and territory.

Earlier, Kuwait reported intercepting hostile aerial targets after they entered its airspace. Explosions were heard during the interception operations.

The incidents occurred during a renewed exchange of strikes between Iran and the United States, amid heightened tensions affecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Kuwaiti authorities have not identified those responsible for the attacks. Investigations are underway, and the armed forces said they remain on high readiness while monitoring the security situation and protecting the country’s border and energy infrastructure.
