Drilling of wellbore 35/6-7 S in the North Sea is expected to begin in August 2026 after Vår Energi received a permit from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.

The well forms part of production license 929 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The license remains valid until 2 September 2026, having taken effect on 2 March 2018.

COSL Prospector will undertake the drilling work. The GG5000-design rig can drill to a maximum depth of 7,500 m and operate in water depths of up to 1,500 m.

Access to the rig was secured through cooperation between Vår Energi and Equinor for the 2024–2026 period. COSL Prospector was awarded a two-year contract in September 2023, together with extension options covering three years.

Vår Energi holds a 40% operating interest in production license 929. Harbour Energy and Pandion Energy each own 20%, while Aker BP and DNO Norge each hold 10%.
