Vroon Offshore Services has secured a contract worth more than £7 million from ScottishPower Renewables to provide emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) services for the East Anglia TWO and East Anglia THREE offshore wind projects.
The agreement is Vroon Offshore Services‘ first long-term charter for ERRV services in the offshore wind sector. The company will deploy VOS Traveller to support safety operations during construction of the two projects off the coast of Suffolk.
VOS Traveller will operate from Lowestoft and remain on continuous 24/7 standby. The vessel and its crew will provide safety cover and search and rescue support for personnel working offshore, including a Place of Safety within 20 minutes.
A crew of 24 will be assigned to VOS Traveller, working on a 28-day rotation.
The vessel is also equipped with two fast rescue craft, a Dacon scoop, a heavy-duty rescue basket and onboard medical treatment facilities. Its duties will include collision-avoidance surveillance, radio watchkeeping, field logistics support and offshore environmental monitoring.
VOS Traveller is a 48.2 m Class B ERRV built in Stellendam, the Netherlands, in 2008. The vessel will provide ERRV support for East Anglia TWO and East Anglia THREE while construction work on the offshore wind projects is under way.
