EnerMech has secured a subsea pre-commissioning contract from Subsea7 for bp’s Ginger gas development offshore Trinidad and Tobago, covering pipeline testing and preparation of subsea production infrastructure.
The EnerMech Subsea7 Ginger contract includes flushing, hydrotesting, water filling, leak testing and other subsea testing activities. The company will also provide commissioning support for the subsea production system (SPS) during the project’s installation and commissioning stages.
EnerMech plans to carry out the work using specialist equipment and personnel already based in the Caribbean, supported by its wider pipeline and subsea services teams.
In comments reported by Offshore Energy, Darrel Sookdeo, EnerMech’s Vice President for the Caribbean, highlighted the company’s established presence in Trinidad and Tobago and its ability to deploy locally available resources alongside international technical expertise.
The Ginger development is located off Trinidad’s southeast coast in water depths of up to 90 m. The project comprises four subsea wells connected to the existing Mahogany B platform through new subsea production infrastructure, with first gas targeted for 2027.
Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, operating through their Subsea Integration Alliance, were awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for Ginger by bp in April 2025.
Under the original EPCI contract announced by Subsea7, Subsea7 is responsible for supplying a diver-installed tie-in system, a flexible production flowline and associated infrastructure.
SLB OneSubsea’s scope includes four subsea trees, tubing hangers and a high-integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS) manifold.
Subsea7 scheduled offshore operations for 2026 when the EPCI award was announced, while EnerMech’s latest contract covers pre-commissioning services associated with preparing the subsea facilities for operation.
