COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry is preparing for an A-share initial public offering in China after entering the pre-listing process in September 2026.
The shipbuilding subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping completed its pre-IPO tutoring filing, with China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and China Merchants Securities serving as tutoring institutions.
The company has not disclosed a fundraising target, listing timetable or final listing venue.
COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry operates nine large and medium-sized shipyards in China, with activities covering shipbuilding, ship repair and offshore engineering.
The company secured 79 newbuilding orders worth RMB 41.3 billion in 2025. It delivered 62 vessels totalling 6.31 million DWT during the year, while its orderbook stood at 216 vessels and 24.77 million DWT at the end of 2025.
Separately, South Korea and the United States are implementing a $150 billion investment framework for cooperation in the US shipbuilding sector.
On 25 June 2026, Korea-U.S. Strategic Investment Corporation (KUIC), four Korean policy finance institutions and three South Korean shipbuilders signed an MoU covering implementation of the shipbuilding investment.
The participating financial institutions are Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), Korea Development Bank (KDB), Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE) and Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC).
The participating shipbuilders are HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean.
Under the MoU, the participants agreed to establish a consultative body for Korea-US shipbuilding cooperation. Its activities include sharing information, identifying business opportunities and providing policy financing support.
The $150 billion shipbuilding allocation forms part of South Korea’s broader $350 billion US investment package.
Further implementation measures followed in July. The Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Partnership Center opened in Washington on 23 July 2026 to support Korea-US shipbuilding cooperation and facilitate the planned $150 billion investment.
