The Skandi Olinda Petrobras contract extension adds 304 days, keeping the pipe-laying support vessel (PLSV) under contract with Petrobras through January 2028. The long-term contract had been scheduled to end in April 2027.
DOF Group announced the extension on 5 November after negotiations with Petrobras. Skandi Olinda is owned equally by DOF Group and TechnipFMC through a joint venture. The extension is part of a series of agreements that will keep the venture’s PLSVs working for Petrobras into 2028.
The vessel began an eight-year Petrobras charter in 2019, when it was delivered by Brazilian shipbuilder Vard Promar. Under the joint venture’s operating arrangement, TechnipFMC manages flexible pipe-laying while DOF Group is responsible for marine operations. At the start of the charter, the vessel had a vertical lay system tower with a 340-tonne capacity, a 2,500-tonne underdeck carousel and two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Its pipelay system was designed to install flexible pipes in water depths of up to 2,500 metres, according to the 2019 delivery announcement.
DOF Group lists Skandi Olinda as designed for subsea construction and pipe laying, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), and ROV services at depths of up to 3,000 metres. Built in 2019, the vessel is 139.9 metres long and accommodates up to 120 people, according to DOF’s fleet specifications.
The extension follows contract amendments announced in July for the joint venture’s Skandi Buzios and Skandi Recife. Those vessels received extensions of 516 and 550 days, respectively, moving their contract end dates from the third quarter of 2026 to January 2028. With the latest agreement, all three vessels now have Petrobras contracts extending through January 2028. DOF Group’s contract announcement details the new extension.
