Petrobras has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register (LR) for the REVIT I TUPI FPSO concept, its proposed floating production, storage and offloading unit, according to LR’s 5 November announcement. www.lr.org

The concept draws on the detailed design of FPSO P-68, which is operating in Brazil’s Santos Basin, with process and system adjustments for the Tupi Field. The project is also known as Tupi Field Revitalization, or REVIT I TUPI.

LR said its assessment of preliminary documents found no concept-level concerns under relevant industry references. It concluded that further engineering could develop the proposal into a design considered safe and viable.

The review covered process diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, equipment specifications and supporting technical studies. LR also assessed how the project would manage modifications to the original P-68 configuration during its lifecycle.

The approval supports Petrobras’ Tupi Field Revitalization project in the Tupi field.
