Ithaca Energy CEO Luciano Vasques plans to retire by 31 March 2027, prompting the UK oil and gas producer’s board to begin selecting his replacement.

In its CEO succession announcement dated 16 October 2026, the company said Vasques had notified directors of his retirement plans. It will provide another update as the succession process progresses, with arrangements intended to enable a smooth handover.

Vasques took the top job in October 2024. His earlier career included serving as Managing Director at Eni UK Limited, where he led the purchase of Eni Energy UK, previously named Neptune Energy, and its integration into Eni UK’s operations.

Before that, he headed Central Asia activities for Eni S.p.A. His responsibilities included the company’s interests in the Kashagan and Karachaganak oil and gas fields.

Explaining his decision, Vasques pointed to the completed business combination and Ithaca Energy‘s inclusion in the FTSE 100. He said he would assist with the leadership handover. Executive Chairman Yaniv Friedman acknowledged Vasques’ contribution during the integration of Eni UK.
