Petronas is expected to add Agentic AI capabilities to its myPROdata platform under an agreement between Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) and Iraya Energies.
The web-based myPROdata platform provides subsurface and surface data covering exploration blocks, discovered resource opportunities and producing fields in Malaysia.
Under the agreement, geological, geophysical, engineering and other relevant data are expected to be integrated with Agentic AI capabilities. The technology is designed to analyse and connect multiple data sources, helping users navigate and assess complex upstream information more efficiently.
The enhanced platform is also expected to support evaluations ranging from the identification of prospective areas and resource assessment to development opportunities and commercial viability. It is intended to help investors and industry participants assess Malaysia’s exploration and production data when considering upstream opportunities.
MPM Senior Vice President Datuk Ir. (Dr) Bacho Pilong said the initiative is intended to support faster and more informed investment decisions by combining upstream data with AI capabilities.
He linked the programme to Petronas’ ambition to attract approximately RM50 billion to RM60 billion in annual upstream investment and reduce the time from discovery to first hydrocarbon from 100 months to 50 months.
Iraya Energies will serve as the consortium lead integrator. The company will be responsible for establishing the technical, commercial and security foundations required for the AI capabilities and the wider programme rollout.
Petronas, through MPM, said the initiative is intended to strengthen Malaysia’s upstream investment ecosystem and support the continued development of the country’s hydrocarbon resources.
