Subsea7 has selected Worley Rosenberg to manufacture subsea structures and spools for Northern Lights Phase II in Norway. Worley announced the contract on 14 October 2026.
The award brings Worley Rosenberg back for the expansion after it delivered similar components for Phase I in 2023. The new structures and spools will serve a system that carries captured industrial CO2 to geological formations beneath the North Sea for permanent storage.
Northern Lights Phase II is due to expand annual CO2 transport and storage capacity beyond 5 million tonnes by 2028, up from the first phase’s 1.5 million tonnes. A final investment decision on the expansion was taken in March 2025.
Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies jointly own Northern Lights. Phase I forms part of the Norwegian government’s Longship carbon capture and storage programme. It is operating through the Øygarden terminal near Bergen, with the first CO2 injected and stored in August 2025.
Worley Rosenberg managing director Jan Narvestad said the contract would keep the company’s fabrication facilities supplied with work.
