GasEntec has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) concept with a gas send-out capacity of up to 1 billion cubic feet per day.
The AiP followed a concept-stage review covering the technical and safety fundamentals of the design. The approval was formally presented during Gastech 2026 in Bangkok.
The FSRU concept features a multi-mode regasification system capable of operating in open-loop, closed-loop and combined-loop configurations. This allows the system to be configured for different environmental conditions and project requirements.
GasEntec has developed the concept around a modular architecture that can accommodate different send-out capacities, pressures and operating requirements. Lloyd’s Register described the design as one of the industry’s highest-capacity FSRU concepts.
The approval marks GasEntec’s first AiP from Lloyd’s Register. The company said the design will be developed further toward project execution for future FSRU projects involving vessel owners and project developers.
