Ørsted Targets 2026 Commissioning for Three Offshore Wind Projects

Ørsted expects three offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 2.5 GW to be commissioned in the second half of 2026, according to its interim financial report for the first half of the year.

Borkum Riffgrund 3 in Germany was more than 99% complete at the end of June. Almost all turbines had been commissioned, with the remaining work continuing ahead of planned commissioning in the third quarter of 2026.

In Taiwan, Greater Changhua 2b and 4 had reached approximately 85% completion. All turbines at Greater Changhua 4 had been commissioned, while completion of the export cable installation for Greater Changhua 2b was approaching. Ørsted expects the combined project to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026.

Revolution Wind in the US was more than 95% complete. Installation had reached 61 of the project’s 65 turbines, and commissioning activities were underway. The project is scheduled for commissioning in the second half of 2026.

Construction is also advancing at Sunrise Wind, where overall completion stood at 50% at the end of June. Foundations had been installed at 77 of 84 positions, while 20 turbines were in place. Turbine commissioning is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, followed by full commissioning in the second half of 2027.

At Baltica 2 in Poland, foundations had been installed at 103 of the project’s 111 foundation positions. Monopile installation for the offshore substations was complete, while fabrication of the four offshore substations was continuing.

Hornsea 3 in the UK was approximately 30% complete. During the first half of 2026, 43 monopiles were installed as offshore foundation and export cable activities progressed. Ørsted was also working with the grid operator on reinforcement work required for the project’s onshore grid connection.

Hornsea 3 is scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2027 or the first quarter of 2028.
