BOABARGE 33 Heads to Gdynia for Miecznik Frigate Launch

The semi-submersible heavy-lift barge BOABARGE 33 is sailing to Gdynia, Poland, to launch the first of three frigates in the Miecznik programme.

The frigates are being built by PGZ Naval Shipyard. The mobilisation will place the barge in Gdynia for the first launch operation under the three-vessel programme.

BOABARGE 33 measures 140.0 m in length, 57.05 m in breadth and 8.54 m in depth. It has a cargo capacity of 30,200 tonnes, 5,800 m² of deck space and a deck strength of 31.5 t/m².

The barge can submerge to 18 m above deck forward and 21 m above deck aft. Its ballast system has a pumping capacity of 10,000 m³ per hour.

An upgrade completed in 2023 strengthened BOABARGE 33 for stern load-out operations involving structures weighing up to 25,000 t.
