Drydocks World has launched ALNOKHADA, its new 5,000-tonne floating crane, marking a key milestone as the project moves into the next phase of outfitting and load testing.
The name ALNOKHADA is inspired by the Gulf’s maritime heritage and reflects the legacy of the region’s captains. According to the company, the name symbolizes leadership, resilience and the ability to navigate challenging waters, while honoring those who guided fleets across the Arabian Gulf and helped shape the region’s maritime tradition.
Developed in collaboration with ZPMC Offshore, the crane has now entered its outfitting phase ahead of final commissioning.
The heavy-lift asset measures 138.5 m in length, with a beam of 52 m and a draft of 5.8 m. It is equipped with a lifting system featuring a 5,000-tonne main hook and a 600-tonne auxiliary hook, with a maximum lifting height of up to 180 m.
Once operational, ALNOKHADA is expected to strengthen Drydocks World’s heavy-lift capabilities and support increasingly complex offshore and energy projects across the region.
