SSE Renewables has selected Seaway7 as preferred supplier to deliver foundations and inter-array cables at Berwick Bank B, its planned 1.4 GW offshore wind project in Scotland. A definitive contract remains pending, with SSE targeting a final investment decision in 2027.
The proposed package spans engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI). Seaway7 would undertake the design and supply of foundations and their offshore installation, alongside the subsea inter-array cable scope.
The selection extends a working relationship that includes Beatrice and Seagreen in Scotland and continuing activity at England’s Dogger Bank wind farm.
Berwick Bank B belongs to the wider 4.1 GW Berwick Bank development in the outer Firth of Forth. The site is roughly 38 kilometres from the Scottish Borders coast. Scottish government approval for the overall development came in July 2025, followed in January 2026 by a 20-year contract for difference for the B phase under the UK’s Allocation Round 7.
SSE expects the Seaway7 scope to support an estimated 465 jobs in the UK, with 400 of those located in Scotland. Around 160 would be direct positions at Seaway7, which would manage delivery from Aberdeen. Indirect employment among UK suppliers is estimated at 105 positions.
A further 200 jobs, encompassing direct employment and indirect roles, are anticipated from foundation marshalling at a port in Scotland. The port’s identity is due to be disclosed later.
SSE’s employment estimate for its Berwick Bank B commitments now stands at approximately 600 UK jobs, comprising new positions and employment supported by the work. More than 500 would be in Scotland. The estimate also covers the planned operations and maintenance base at Montrose Port, associated with 100 long-term positions and approximately 30 jobs during construction.
