Seatrium has secured its ninth floating storage and regasification unit conversion project from Karpowership, with LNG carrier Arctic Voyager set to be converted into LNGT Akdeniz for Karpowership-backed Kinetics.

The project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Seatrium’s scope covers engineering, conversion, integration, installation and commissioning of the vessel’s regasification equipment and associated systems, according to the Seatrium and Karpowership announcement.

Kinetics announced the acquisition of Arctic Voyager on 30 September, confirming that the LNG carrier would be converted and renamed LNGT Akdeniz. The converted vessel will have approximately 143,000 cbm of LNG storage capacity, Moss-type cargo tanks and an expected economic life of 20 years. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2028, according to Kinetics’ official announcement.

The contract extends the FSRU conversion programme between Seatrium and Karpowership, which began in 2018. Seven units have already been delivered, most recently LNGT Türkiye, while LNGT Karadeniz is currently undergoing conversion as the eighth project.

HMT News previously reported that Seatrium delivered LNGT Türkiye as the seventh FSRU in the programme. The Singapore group is also working on LNGT Karadeniz, the eighth conversion project for Kinetics.

LNGT Akdeniz is the second FSRU conversion to proceed as a firm project under the Letter of Intent signed by Seatrium and Karpowership in 2025. The agreement covers three LNG carrier-to-FSRU conversions as well as the potential integration of up to six new-generation Powerships.

The companies’ current FSRU conversion sequence now comprises seven delivered units, LNGT Karadeniz as the eighth project under conversion, and LNGT Akdeniz as the ninth project.

The new vessel will join the LNG fleet operated under the Kinetics initiative. Karpowership said the addition of LNGT Akdeniz will increase the Kinetics LNG fleet to 12 vessels, including units currently in the pipeline.

For Seatrium, LNGT Akdeniz follows the completion of seven FSRU conversions for Karpowership and the ongoing conversion of LNGT Karadeniz as the eighth project.
