Seadrill has added new drilling work for the West Vela, West Capella and Sevan Louisiana in the U.S. Gulf and Malaysia, according to the offshore drilling contractor’s latest fleet status update.

The West Vela has secured a contract with Talos Energy in the U.S. Gulf covering a one-year program from June 2027 to June 2028. The contract had an estimated total value of approximately $161 million when signed, excluding additional services.

The drillship already has contracted work in the U.S. Gulf before the new Talos Energy program. In April 2026, Seadrill announced that LLOG Exploration Company, a subsidiary of Harbour Energy, had awarded the West Vela a 270-day drilling program. The award was announced together with a 365-day contract extension for the West Neptune, with the two contracts adding approximately $260 million to Seadrill’s backlog.

The West Vela has also previously worked for Talos Energy at the Daenerys discovery in the U.S. Gulf. Talos Energy reported in May 2026 that the drillship had drilled the discovery well in Walker Ridge blocks 106, 107, 150 and 151 to a total vertical depth of 33,228 feet.

In Malaysia, PTTEP has exercised a priced option for approximately 75 days on the West Capella at the original contract dayrate. The additional period extends the drillship’s contracted schedule into August 2027.

The West Capella is operating under a 440-day contract with PTTEP. Seadrill’s latest fleet status report lists the total contract value at signing at approximately $157 million, including mobilization revenue and excluding additional services.

The Sevan Louisiana has also received additional work in the U.S. Gulf. Seadrill’s latest fleet schedule shows the semi-submersible working for Walter Oil & Gas, followed by Guardian/LLOG and another Walter Oil & Gas program, with contracted activity extending into August 2026.
