Omega Subsea has added NKT Eleonora to its long-term ROV work for NKT, securing a five-year services agreement for the new cable-laying vessel.

The award follows an earlier five-year contract covering NKT Victoria, giving Omega Subsea responsibility for ROV services on both vessels.

Four of eight new ROV systems from Kystdesign scheduled for delivery in 2026 will be assigned to the NKT projects. The systems are being prepared for deployment as part of the equipment packages for the two cable layers.

For NKT Victoria, the scope also includes two launch and recovery systems supplied by Ulmatec. The LARS units will support two new ROVs from the vessel’s hangar. Operations under the arrangement are expected to start before the end of 2026.

The earlier NKT Victoria contract includes extension options and covers the supply, mobilisation and year-round operation of ROV systems for subsea cable installation and maintenance.

NKT Eleonora, designed by Salt Ship Design and being built and outfitted by VARD, measures 176 m in length and 32 m in width. The vessel will carry up to 23,000 tonnes of cable across three turntables and is expected by NKT to enter operation in 2027.

Omega Subsea plans to mobilise the ROV systems for NKT Eleonora in January. The vessel is designed for offshore high-voltage cable installation and can operate using methanol, HVO or marine diesel oil.

NKT Victoria has been operating since 2017. Following an upgrade by NKT, its cable capacity increased from 9,000 tonnes to 11,000 tonnes, alongside improvements to its positioning and cable-installation capabilities.
