Two U.S.-sanctioned heavy-lift vessels, Glory and Bright, are transporting two power-generation modules from China for Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 Train 2 in Russia, according to gCaptain, citing AIS data and satellite imagery from SynMax Intelligence.
The vessels loaded the modules at Zhangjiagang port in eastern China between 6 and 10 September 2026 before sailing north.
Designated 2-PGM-002 and 2-PGM-004, the units are the final two of four onshore power plant modules fabricated at Wison’s former Zhoushan facility for Arctic LNG 2 Train 2.
The first pair, PGM 1 and PGM 3, was delivered to the Arctic LNG 2 site on Russia’s Gydan Peninsula in autumn 2024. PGM 2 and PGM 4 remained at the Zhoushan facility for more than a year.
Chinese cargo vessel Xin Xu Zhi Xing collected the two remaining modules from Zhoushan on 17 and 26 April 2026. They were delivered to Zhangjiagang on 19 April and 1 May, respectively.
Arctic LNG 2 was designed with three LNG trains, each with an annual production capacity of 6.6 million tonnes. Train 2 has been operating with part of its planned electrical-power configuration. The power-generation system is designed to include 20 gas turbines providing a combined 482 MW.
Glory and Bright previously transported two modules from China to Novatek’s LNG construction center at Belokamenka near Murmansk in July 2026. Those units are intended for Arctic LNG 2 Train 3.
Both heavy-lift vessels are subject to U.S. sanctions linked to their involvement in Russian energy projects. Vessel records cited by gCaptain show that the ships were reflagged to Russia and transferred to Eco Shipping LLC in Arkhangelsk earlier in 2026.
