Flotation Energy and Harbour Energy will jointly examine floating offshore wind electrification opportunities for oil and gas assets in the North Sea under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The work will consider the technical, regulatory and commercial factors associated with potential offshore electrification scenarios.

The collaboration brings together Harbour Energy’s experience as a North Sea oil and gas operator and Flotation Energy’s expertise in floating offshore wind and electrification.

Scott Barr, Managing Director of Harbour Energy’s UK business unit, said cooperation between the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors could help identify the opportunities and challenges associated with offshore electrification.

The MoU provides the framework for Flotation Energy and Harbour Energy to assess the potential for floating offshore wind to support electrification of oil and gas assets in the North Sea.
