Equinor and its partners have selected the development concept for Ringvei Vest, a subsea project linked to the Troll B platform in the Norwegian North Sea.
The project includes the Grosbeak, Swisher, Mulder, Kveikje, Toppand, Røver Sør and Røver Nord discoveries, together with the Grønngylt prospect. The resources are spread across eight licenses.
Equinor estimates Ringvei Vest will contribute 240 million barrels of oil equivalent. Kjetil Hove, Executive Vice President for Exploration and Production Norway at Equinor, said the selected concept followed long-term work with partners and authorities and is intended to support optimal resource use.
As operator across all related licenses, Equinor assessed different options for the discoveries to be included and the host platform.
Hove said developing marginal discoveries close to existing infrastructure and working across licenses are important to maintaining activity levels and reliable energy supplies to Europe. He added that Equinor aims to raise its equity production from the Norwegian Continental Shelf to 1.3 million barrels per day in 2035.
Ringvei Vest covers a large area and is planned with 13 wells through six subsea templates. The well stream will be separated on the seabed before being transported to Troll B, which will also supply power to the subsea facilities.
The wells are planned to be controlled from Troll B. Oil will be transported from the platform to Mongstad, while gas will be sent to Kollsnes.
Troll B is partly powered from shore, enabling Ringvei Vest oil and gas production with low emissions.
A decision on continuation is planned by the end of the year. The timing for the final investment decision, submission of the plan for development and operation, and production start-up has not yet been decided.
