Cadeler and Vattenfall Vindkraft AB have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore operations and maintenance solutions for the offshore wind sector, with a focus on Major Component Exchange.
The collaboration will be carried out through Nexra, Cadeler’s dedicated offshore wind O&M service platform. The two companies will examine maintenance concepts across multiple turbine platforms, combining operational experience, service methods and long-term planning.
Their work will focus on improving the efficiency, safety and scalability of offshore wind maintenance activities. Major Component Exchange will be a key area, including approaches aimed at making maintenance operations more predictable and effective.
Vattenfall Vindkraft AB said major component exchanges involve cost, operational complexity and lost generation. The collaboration will therefore examine maintenance approaches intended to support safe and reliable offshore wind operations and improve long-term asset performance.
Nexra was established in 2025 as Cadeler’s O&M service platform to support the offshore wind aftermarket. It provides heavy maintenance services throughout the operating life of offshore wind assets.
Its vessel portfolio primarily draws on Wind Zaratan, Wind Scylla and Wind Keeper. Vessels from the wider Cadeler fleet can also be deployed when required.
