Boskalis has added BOKA Da Vinci to its remotely supported offshore fleet, extending the use of its Aberdeen-based Remote Operations Center (ROC) after the first successful remote ROV deployment with BOKA Northern Ocean.
The initial operation connected specialists at the ROC in Aberdeen with the crew of BOKA Northern Ocean while the construction support vessel was working offshore. BOKA Da Vinci has now become the second vessel linked to the center.
Through a reliable satellite connection, BOKA Da Vinci remains in continuous contact with the ROC during project execution. The diving support vessel mainly works in the North Sea, where it supports decommissioning campaigns that remove outdated offshore infrastructure and help prepare areas for renewable energy projects.
For closer coordination between the vessel and the onshore team, BOKA Da Vinci has been equipped with two new remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and related systems. The setup allows 24-hour remote support from Aberdeen.
Boskalis said the ROC expands its ability to support and control important subsea work from shore. The center also functions as a fleet operations hub, giving offshore teams access to extra expertise when needed while supporting safer, more efficient and consistent project delivery.
The company thanked the colleagues involved in upgrading BOKA Da Vinci and wished the vessel crew and ROC team success with their upcoming remote projects.
