The UPO CSOV NB 1004 has entered construction at Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, where VARD cut the first steel on 2 November. The vessel is based on the VARD 4 19 design, according to VARD’s steel-cutting update.

The two vessels will feature hybrid battery propulsion, DP2 dynamic positioning and 3D-compensated walk-to-work gangways supplied by Seaonics. Each is designed to accommodate up to 120 people, including 93 technicians, for offshore wind operations in Taiwan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

UPO is a joint venture between U-Ming Marine Offshore and Purus. The first vessel, NB 996, is under construction at VARD’s Tulcea yard in Romania. More on a related VARD-built CSOV.
